New date of 2020 European Championships

Dear Grandmasters, Masters, NGB Presidents and Coaches,

We hope that this letter finds you in good health.

We would like to update you regarding the current situation of 2020 EITF Championships. After much considerations and negotiations with hotels and venue, the Czech Organisers and EITF we have arrived at the following decision:

The new date of EITF Championship in Prague is proposed as 16th – 23rd August 2020.

This is the only alternative date available where all conditions are guaranteed to be same as for the original date.

It goes without saying, that we are closely and continuously monitoring the current situation regarding COVID-19 in Europe, which unfortunately is still both uncertain and unpredictable.

Therefore, the 1st June 2020 has been set as a date when a final decision will be made as to whether the Championship will continue as planned or whether it must be cancelled.

Age categories:
Please be advised that the original Championship start date (Sunday 19th April 2020) will remain as the qualifying date for the age categories. In other words children, juniors, adults and veterans age categories will be as per the original applications. Therefore, it is hoped that most countries will not have to change their teams drastically, which should help the situation greatly.

The current situation is very complicated for all of us, yet we still wish to proceed and hope that this years European Championships in the Czech Republic will ultimately be successful.

Thank you for your understanding and support so far and we hope to see you again soon.

Please stay safe and let us all hope for the best.

Yours in Taekwondo,

on behalf of Grand Master Prewett, the whole EITF and the Czech Organisers

Jan Labík
